Norway’s Capital city Oslo is the perfect location to tie in a stopover if you travelling further afield within the country or whether you might be just looking to do city break.

There is plenty that the city can offer from fascinating architectural designs such as the Oslo Opera House and Munch (formerly Munch Museum), then there is all the history to discover from seeing Viking Longboats in the Viking Ship Museum, or visit the Royal Palace that is an easy walk from the centre of the city. In June the National Museum will be opening which will be certainly somewhere to visit too.

For those film and book fans Oslo is the setting of Joachim Trier’s wonderful Oslo Trilogy and author Jo Nesbø famous detective Harry Hole.

Sculpted and carved by ancient glaciers, the Norwegian Fjords are a collection of geological masterpieces. Sheer cliff faces and deep, sea flooded valleys wrapped in wild rugged terrain set the stage for an adventurers’ paradise. In addition there are a whole host of incredible places to stay such as lighthouses, boutique hotels and lodges.

Begin your adventure in the official “Gateway to the Fjords” Bergen where you can experience some of the areas most popular tourist attractions such as the Norway in a Nutshell tour by train, land and sea, or for something a little less mainstream you could head to the nearby charming Art Nouveau town of Alesund where a host of tours can be arranged privately such as chocolate tasting, helicopter rides and hiking.

A must whilst visiting Fjord Norway is to witness Geirangerfjord – the UNESCO listed jewel of Fjord Norway and quite possibly the country’s most iconic place of natural beauty.
