Luxury boutique hotel by the shore
Everyone in the Faroe Islands is familiar with the impressive, white house – known as the Commodore’s House – situated on the main road Yviri við Strond in Tórshavn. After being built in 1948 the house has changed hands only a few times before the Danish Navy purchased the house and since then, 21 Danish Commodores and their families have made the house their home. Hanging in the entrance hall is a list of the names of all the dignitaries who have lived there. The Faroe Islands’ only boutique hotel with 14 rooms, is situated on the shore, Úti við Strond. Staying at the hotel, you’ll get the feeling that you are far away from everything, but in reality, it’s only a stone’s throw from the historic fort Skansin, the town centre, the old part of Tórshavn and an array of restaurants and cafés.
All the rooms in Havgrím are designed taking inspiration from the fjord. The colours are influenced by the sea when calm and stormy, the fields and the ever-changing sky. The rooms are varied in size and layout; Standard, Superior, Deluxe and the Commodore Suite. The Premium Commodore Suite has incredible views of Nólsoy fjord which lies wide open to the east, just a stone’s throw from the window.
All rooms have a comprehensive minibar, satellite television, safe, bathrobe, slippers, facilities for making tea/coffee and luxury toiletries.
