Fall into foraging
Arrive in Lulea and take a guided transfer through the picturesque region of Lulea in Arctic Sweden, and arrive through the trees to Brändön Lodge. Check into your cosy cabin, and enjoy a delicious dinner in the main lodge. The following morning, you’ll head out with a professional local guide to test your Arctic wilderness skills! You’ll learn important skills such as how to build a fire using only what you find in the nature, and will examine fresh animal tracks in the local area to find the best place to set up camp. You’ll forage for berries, a staple ingredient of Arctic cuisine, which will be collected and stored ready for a special surprise later in the week! Enjoy a traditional lunch in an authentic Sami tent, and learn more about life in the Arctic. This evening, you’ll walk out into the crisp autumnal arctic air and gaze up to the sky as the Northern Lights dance amongst the stars.
On day three, you’ll jump aboard and take to the water which surrounds the lodge for a relaxing boat tour. From the boat, you’ll try your hand at fishing, and catch a second ingredient for a tasty Arctic dinner. The boat journey ends at Jopikgården, on the secluded Fidaisland of Hindersön, where you’ll spend the third night on your adventure.
The following morning you’ll board the boat a final time, and head out in search of the local wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for seals bathing in the Autumn sunshine, and reindeers foraging in the overgrowth. You’ll moor up on a nearby island where you’ll collect a final ingredient, and make your way back to where you started at Brändön Lodge. Here, you’ll join a talented wilderness chef on a fascinating cooking class, where you’ll use all of the ingredients you’ve personally gathered over the past few days. Create your very own Arctic dishes, put your wilderness skills to use, and savour the satisfaction as tuck into a delicious well-earned dinner!
